Parents;

This spring all 3-8 grade students at the Edgartown School will be administered the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for Colleges and Careers) Test in math and English language arts.  This Massachusetts mandated test replaces the MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) as it is aligned to the new national common core standards.  Students in grades 5 and 8 will continue to take the MCAS science test this year.  Most of our students will take the PARCC on computers which is a new and exciting format.  To learn more about this new test click on the link below.

As we get closer to the testing period, test schedules and other related information will be made available to you.  Should you have any questions about this test, please contact your child’s teacher or myself.

Sincerely,
John W. Stevens
Principal

PARCC Information

Practice Tests
(http://parcc.pearson.com/practice-tests/)

Want to see PARCC items in action? Would you like to know how PARCC is different from previous tests?

The different groups can look at the sample tests in both Math and ELA at the grade level they work with.  All the different tools available on the tests should be demonstrated (ie, answer eliminator, pointer/highlighter, protractor, ruler, calculator, flagging, review).  This section demonstrates what the test currently looks like and how students will be asked to interact with it.

At the bottom of this link you can find rubrics for ELA/Literacy grouped by grade 3, grades 4-5 and grades 6-11.  Summative assessment information can also be found here.

In this section, teachers can review both math and ela information to:
Inform the development of item specifications and blueprints for the PARCC assessments, and
Support implementation of the Common Core State Standards
